The new Pickleball Center in Steamboat Springs will open sometime in July. Here’s the Director of Pickleball, Jayson Harris.
“I think it’s a big deal for a mountain town to have a facility like this. It’s a big deal for Colorado to have a facility like this so it’s really cool that we get to have it in Steamboat.”
The new Pickleball Center is next to the Tennis Bubble, by the Meadows parking lot. There will be 12 indoor courts dedicated to only pickleball.
Harris says a special gel is being used for the surface so it will play like a hard court but be easy on the knees.
The courts will be Smart Courts, which means all courts will have cameras on them for streaming, tournaments, and teaching, and getting footage of your match.
The $11M facility will have a Welcome Center, pro shop, locker rooms and office. There will be community and social spaces, and ping pong tables upstairs.

Groundbreaking was in June of 2022.
Pickleball right now is being played in the Tennis Bubble, on tennis courts marked off for pickleball, and games are being played outside.
The 3rd Annual Pickleball Shootout and Fundraiser is Aug. 3.
