UPDATE: There is no on-street parking in Ski Time Square due to the Ski Time Square Roundabout Project going on right now. The City of Steamboat Springs is asking people to use other parking locations and walk if attending the Tugboat Farewell event.
A group is gathering at the Tugboat Grill & Pub in Ski Time Square from 3-4 p.m. Friday afternoon, June 7. They plan to celebrate the memories of the Tugboat Bar as the building is set to be demolished sometime in June. Mary Kay Ghiglia is organizing the gathering.
“There are a lot of people who were here in the 70s and early 80s that that was an institution. My husband is a musician and he played there back in the day. And now this is the last bit of the Steamboat old institutions that are going away. And I just thought we should celebrate the moment, that’s all.”
Organizers say it is a “somber human-chain event to memorialize the old days at the ‘Boat. Wear black, but accessorize.”
We have reached out to DBT Development Group, LLC three times to get an exact date of demolition and have not head back.
Demolition crews have been removing the condemned parking lot, but developers were ordered to wait 30 days until the Tugboat building could be demolished. That was on May 13.
