Water levels on the Elk River are expected to reach the flood stage through the weekend. Routt County Office of Emergency Management has issued a Flood Warning, saying to be alert and prepared to evacuate if necessary.
Routt County Road and Bridge has been putting up signs at different intersections that could flood, and county bridges that cross the Elk River are being checked daily.
Minor flooding is expected in the Yampa River in the Steamboat Springs flood zones.

A camper caught fire along Hwy 40 Wednesday afternoon, just east of Craig. Colorado State Patrol says the highway was shut down in both directions for a couple of hours and that everyone got out of the vehicle safely, and no one was injured.

Traffic will be slow again through Hayden today. Paving and striping on Highway 40 through Hayden continues. Expect minor delays as traffic will be down to one lane.

Colorado U.S. Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper along with U.S. Representatives Joe Neguse and Brittany Petterson are again reaching out to U.S. Postal Service officials about problems with mail service in Colorado mountain towns. The letter says Colorado mountain towns still have staffing problems, they’re disorganized, mail processing is inefficient and there are delivery delays. It is a follow-up about when they reached out to the Postmaster General Louis DeJoy last December. The most recent letter says, “We ask that you resolve the issues as soon as possible.”

The Veterans Center in Northwest Colorado sends word that they are now just $87K shy of their $3M goal to rebuild and reconstruct the historic building in downtown Steamboat Springs. Here’s Veterans Center Vice President Bruce Hannon.
“We all like it when a plan comes together. We can start construction on July 4. In the afternoon, we’ll turn the building over to the contractor, and ten months from now we’ll have our own first-class Veterans Center.”
The Veterans Center building was built on Lincoln Ave. in 1898. The veterans will host a party at the building after the 4th of July Parade for all veterans, donors, supporters, and friends who want to stop by, as they hand the building over to Spectrum Construction Company to start reconstruction.

The Town Board of Oak Creek meets tonight to appoint a Trustee to fill a Board vacancy. Applications are being accepted and the appointment will be made by June 13. Agenda
Hayden Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Council will hear a second reading on animal regulations such as not leaving an animal in a hot car, or having it improperly tethered. Also dogs and cats need tags.
The grand opening celebration of the new Howelsen Hill Skatepark is from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in the parking lot at Howelsen Hill on the river side. There will be a ribbon cutting and a Meet & Greet with professional skaters Julie Brueckler and Cody McEntire, and some refreshments and giveaways. The new park has 40 features, including ramps, rails, boxes, ledges, and stairs.
