It’s tubing time on the Yampa River. Flows on the Yampa River have dropped below 700 cubic feet per second (cfs) this week which traditionally signals the start of tubing season for commercial and recreational users. But the city says water is still moving fast and it’s cold so be aware and be careful. Wear a life vest and river shoes, and possibly a helmet.

In Craig, those who are tubing in the Pebble Beach to Loudy Simpson area must exit on the right side of the area of the Craig Whitewater Park.

Steamboat Springs has a new park and open space. It’s a 187-acre parcel called Slate Creek. It’s on the west side of town behind Copper Ridge. Steamboat Springs City Council unanimously approved the purchase for $5.25 million. Parks and Recreation staff envisions a regional park with open space and trails.
The owners of Snow Bowl in Steamboat Springs have announced the purchase of Tavern at The Glen. That’s the long-time restaurant at Glen Eden Resort in Clark, up in North Routt County. It re-opened on June 15.

Stop by The Veterans Center at 924 Lincoln Ave. in Steamboat Springs for the ribbon cutting that will kick off the renovation of their building, built back in 1898.
One thing you don’t want to miss is the 19th Annual Jumpin’ & Jammin’ Ski Jumping Celebration this afternoon at Howelsen Hill. There will be a live band, too.

Fireworks tonight are in Yampa, Craig, and Meeker, with a drone show at the base of Steamboat Resort. There are also fireworks Saturday night at Steamboat Lake.
The 139th Annual Range Call is in Meeker. Activities are throughout downtown Meeker and at the Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds.
Also remember that fireworks that leave the ground, explode or fragment, and any more powerful fireworks are illegal in Colorado. This includes things like bottle rockets, cherry bombs, firecrackers, and M80s. Please Respect Vets, Pets & Neighbors.
Also watch for lots of people walking around our communities here in Northwest Colorado, both today and tonight. Please follow the rules of the road if you’re in a car, on foot or on a bike, and whether you’re on the roads or on the Core Trail.
