Kimber Wheeler from Craig is again a USA Archery All-American in the Women’s Fixed Pins, for the third year in a row. And she has successfully defended her USA Outdoor National Championship in Archery. She also set the National Outdoor Collegiate Record this year.

Wheeler competes for the University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky. She is a 2021 graduate of Moffat County High School.

“I’m super grateful for the opportunity to be able to go to school and shoot on a collegiate team. All of my accomplishments are owed to the people who supported me since I was little. I wouldn’t be shooting archery unless it was because of my parents. My dad shoots archery. It’s through 4H. That’s how I got my start.”

She won the National Championships back in May, and is home in Craig for the summer.

“It’s kind of crazy to think that I was able to find an opportunity to be a collegiate athlete, even coming from Craig. All the kids that think that Craig is just a tiny town and we can’t really accomplish anything but you can really find anything that you’re good at and there’s opportunities all around us.”

Wheeler will head back to college in Kentucky at the end of August, for her senior year.
