By Shannon Lukens.
A group of housekeepers at Casey’s Pond has come up with their own plan to help the assisted living center in Steamboat Springs, that has recently gone into receivership due to financial issues. These women drafted a five-page plan to help Casey’s Pond, and it includes donating a portion of their salary.
One of them even had a T-shirt made.
Pam Sullivan with Casey’s Pond says, “It really exemplifies the deep care and commitment of the team members at the community.”
Thank you to Patricia, Yasmine, Mara, and Graciella for being thoughtful and kind. Casey’s Pond has confirmed they will not be taking their money, but they appreciate the offer.
A new fund has been set up at Yampa Valley Community Foundation. It’s called the Save Casey’s Pond Fund. It was set up to collect donations to save Casey’s Pond Senior Living Community from receivership and from closing. Local donations would show community support, which could help raise more money through philanthropic donations, according to YVCF.
The Yampa Valley Community Foundation website says:
The Save Casey’s Pond fund is collecting donations from community members in the effort to save Casey’s Pond Senior Living Community from receivership and closing. Funds will be used as a portion of the funding toward a successful bid to the investors of Casey’s Pond, to get the facility out of receivership. In order to save Casey’s Pond, it will be necessary to both demonstrate strong community support for the effort and raise several million dollars in philanthropic donations to match other public contributions toward the effort.
Statement from CLC-Capella, the nonprofit operator of Casey’s Pond regarding the proposed Collaborative Community Solution to preserve the facility and its services:
Our ability to keep essential care and services for the elders living in the Yampa Valley and beyond is now at a crisis. We respectfully request your assistance in securing funding to help keep the doors of Casey’s Pond open to more than 120 older adults, 75% of whom are receiving nursing care and assistance with daily living, retain their cherished homes and a vital portion of the continuum of care in northwestern Colorado remains intact to serve hundreds more older adults and their families for many years to come.
If you are interested in making a commitment for a very large donation, rather than donating here, please contact Yampa Valley Community Foundation directly at (970) 879-8632 or traci@yvcf.org.
*If the effort to save Casey’s Pond is not successful, donations to this fund WILL NOT BE REFUNDED, but will be used to support other local senior needs such as home health and hospice, senior housing, food security, emergency assistance and others.
