The Kroger-Albertson’s merger, which are the parent companies of City Market-Safeway, has been put on hold until there is a ruling on the lawsuit filed to block the grocery store merger. Attorney General Phil Weiser filed that lawsuit. He’s been in Northwest Colorado this week, where he also warned of scams going around right now.
“My message to consumers as your attorney general is constant vigilance. If you get an email and it says your flight was delayed because of the Crowd Strike, do not respond. Any email, any phone call, any text, it can easily be a scam. Take care and be sure you’re hearing from the right party.”
Other scams include the fake sick animal post on social media, the fake law enforcement threatening to put you in jail unless you pay someone money, and the fake livestream links for sporting events.

The Yampa Valley Balloon Rodeo is this weekend. Balloons will take off from various locations throughout the Yampa Valley, including the Meadows parking lot. Scott Flower is one of the organizers of the Balloon Rodeo, with Karen Beauvais.
“We do have an arrangement with the Ski Corp. that they’re going to allow the Meadows Parking Lot to have a watch party. They’ll have coffee and burritos down there for everybody. Two balloons will be launching from there. And they’ll be all over town so I hope everybody enjoys the weekend.”
Smokey Bear and the Big Top will be launching from the Meadows lot.
This is both Saturday and Sunday mornings starting around 6:30 a.m.
Then Saturday night is the Balloon Glow at the base of Steamboat Resort, followed by Movies on the Mountain. Balloons will be doing a Balloon Glow at different sites from throughout the Yampa Valley that night as well. This is weather dependent. If it is windy, it will be a Candlestick Glow. Movies on the Mountain is right after the Balloon Glow. The movie is Shrek 2.
