Steamboat Resort Earns Silver Certification as a Colorado Green Business
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO – August 6, 2024 – Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation (SSRC) has received certification as a Silver member of the Colorado Green Business Network (CGBN) through the Colorado Department of Health and Environment (CDPHE). The certification underscores SSRC’s commitment to operational sustainability and environmental stewardship and aligns with the values of Forward Stance, Alterra Mountain Company’s pledge to make a true and lasting impact building a better future for adventure.
The Colorado Green Business Network is a voluntary program designed to encourage, support, and reward organizations that strive towards true operational sustainability. Achieving Silver certification signifies that SSRC has successfully integrated sustainability into multiple aspects of its operations. This includes both policy decisions and efficiency upgrades that have led to tangible reductions in resource use.
“Achieving the CGBN Silver membership highlights the efforts of the Steamboat team as well as the strong initiatives identified through Alterra’s Forward Stance,” said Sarah Jones, Director of Social Responsibility for Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “We are proud of this achievement and see it as a motivator to continue this important work.”
SSRC’s involvement with the CGBN provides numerous benefits, including access to technical assistance, resource reduction strategies, and coaching; workshops and events offering education on the latest sustainability trends and techniques; and inclusion on the GreenBizTracker public directory through the CGBN website. By maintaining good standing in the Colorado Green Business Network, SSRC commits to submitting annual updates and renewing its certification every three years. This process ensures continuous improvement and sustained engagement with the local and state-wide community.
The Colorado Green Business Network is part of a broader initiative to reduce emissions across various industries within the state. SSRC’S involvement with CGBN provides an opportunity to work with local business in the program and those across the state to collaborate on sustainability and climate action.
