Race organizers for the SBT GRVL ride have set up a Community Command Center for anyone who has questions, issues, or concerns. It’s also for someone who may have witnessed a SBT GRVL rider being disrespectful or unsafe. Here’s Amy Charity with SBT GRVL.

“So if you see somebody who is misbehaving, we have a number to call, and we will be addressing that with the riders. We are really trying to enhance accountability to our riders to ensure that they are upholding the oath that we put out there and really being good stewards of cycling for our entire community.”

 That number to call is 720-805-9751. The Community Command Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Friday, and Saturday, and through 8:30 p.m. on race day, which is this Sunday, Aug. 18. If you have any questions about the Community Command Center, reach out to Greer Van Dyck at greer@sbtgrvl.com.

 

Events and activities for the SBT GRVL ride begin Friday. There is a shakeout ride in the morning starting and ending in Hayden. The Expo on Yampa Street is Friday afternoon and during the day Saturday with over 80 vendors. The SBT GRVL HLL CLMB is Friday evening at Howelsen Hill. Race day for the SBT GRVL is Sunday with waves starting between 6:15 and 8 a.m. SBT GRVL Weekend Activities Guide

FRIDAY, AUGUST 16:

  • 9 a.m.: Juniors ride with CTS and All Bodies On Bikes starting at Little Toots Park
  • 9 a.m.: Shakeout ride starting and ending in Hayden, CO
  • 12-5 p.m.: Expo (everyone welcome!) on Yampa Street between 9th and 12th
  • 2-3 p.m.: Wahoo Dunk Tank on the corner of Yampa and 10th
  • 5:30 p.m.: SBT GRVL HLL CLMB p/b Canyon at Howelsen Hill
  • 6:30-8:30 p.m.: FLM FST p/b Outside Powered by Velo at Bud Werner Library

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17:

  • 9 a.m.-3 p.m.: Expo (everyone welcome!) on Yampa Street between 9th and 12th
  • 9:30 a.m.: Alpine Bank Toddler Bike Race at 10th and Yampa
  • 11 a.m.-12 p.m.: Wahoo Dunk Tank on the corner of Yampa and 10th
  • 12:30 p.m.: Diversity Panel with Ride for Racial Justice on main stage at 10th St
  • 1:15 p.m.: Pro Rider Panel on main stage at 10th St

SUNDAY, AUGUST 18 (RACE DAY!):

  • 6:15 a.m.: First race wave will start and last wave start at 8:00am
  • 1:30 p.m.: SBT GRVL finisher awards (Green course)
  • 3:30 p.m.: SBT GRVL finisher awards (Red course)
  • 5:30 p.m.: SBT GRVL finisher awards (Blue course)
  • 6 p.m.: Post Race Party will occur on 10th and Yampa until 8:30pm
  • 7 p.m.: SBT GRVL finisher awards (Black course)

 

The Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education is meeting Thursday for a workshop. They’ll discuss the District Strategic Plan, Superintendent Goals, Board Policy Updates, and more.

 

The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners is participating in a ZOOM call Thursday with representatives from the Colorado Department of Transportation concerning potential passenger rail service in Moffat County. That meeting is at 3 p.m.

 

Hayden Town Council meets tonight. That meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

 

Also Thursday night, the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra presents Disco Inferno – a 70s Celebration! at the base of Steamboat Resort. It starts at 7 p.m. tonight and it is free, but there is a suggested donation of $20, if you can. New York’s top performers will be singing and dancing to hits by Abba, the Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor, Elton John, Donna Summer, and more. Ninety minutes of ‘70s grooves under the Steamboat stars!

 

Also tonight, Friends of the Yampa is hosting a Campfire Talk with paddler/author Eugene Buchanan on Thursday, Aug. 15, at Mythology Distillery. There’s live music before at 5:30 p.m. with Adia Clark Lay. Then Eugene starts telling his stories at 7:30 p.m.

    6:30- 7:30 p.m.  Chatty hour with Friends of the Yampa team
    7:30- 8:30 p.m. Eugene Buchanan shares his amazing adventure stories!

 

 

The Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) hosts Movie in the Park at West Lincoln Park on Thursday, August 15, 2024. The movie is CoCo. The police department will be there serving up free burgers, hot dogs, and popcorn. Then the movie starts at 7:30 p.m.  https://tinyurl.com/yn8ukyk4

 

Be aware of Oak and 12th Streets tomorrow. The Marshall House is scheduled to be moved down the block to its new location. The house was built in 1888.

The Routt County Fair continues at the fairgrounds in Hayden. 14-year-old Lexi Iacovetto is Grand Champion and Grand Champion Reserve for Swine with Lonny Loin and Hammy Sammy.

Best in Show for Poultry is Alyvia Cox with her turkey named Tom. She’s from Phippsburg. Market Poultry overall winner is Leela Bridgewater.

The Rabbit Show is this morning and the Beef show is this afternoon.
