An 18-year-old woman working in Jackson County was killed Saturday night when a car crashed into her in the bowling alley parking lot in Walden.
Colorado State Patrol says the alleged driver was a 21-year-old male from Steamboat Springs.
CSP says the crash happened at 10 p.m. on Main Street and Hwy 125 in Walden, where there is a 90-degree curve. The driver of the Chevy Silverado allegedly didn’t make the curve and went into the bowling alley parking lot, hitting a parked vehicle and two pedestrians. Both of the 18-year-old women were flown to other hospitals. One died, and the other had life threatening injuries and there is not an update on her condition.
CSP says both women are from the Walden area. But Jackson County Coroner George Crocket says the woman who died was working in Walden but she is from out of the country and he has not yet been able to get in touch with her family, so no information is being released.
CSP says the cause is under investigation and that the driver of the vehicle stayed and is cooperating with the investigation. No one has been charged yet.
We will update this story as more information becomes available.
