Craig Police is reporting that members of the community are getting a letter from the National Police Association asking for donations. Craig Police wants everyone to be aware that this group is not collecting money for the City of Craig or Craig Police Department.

Two honors have been awarded to locals at the recent Colorado Governor’s Tourism Conference in Crested Butte.
Tom Kleinschnitz is the Director of Tourism with Visit Moffat County based in Craig. He was given the Governor’s Award for Rising Tourism Star, as an individual who is new to the tourism industry within the last five years, and has demonstrated leadership, commitment and passion for the Colorado tourism industry.
The Governor’s Award for Creative Marketing Campaign goes to Steamboat Ski Resort for The Steamboat Way. The award recognizes an event or project undertaken by a community or region to promote tourism in Colorado.
Jennifer Grathwohl has resigned her position as Executive Director of Perry Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp. She has been there for three months.
There is a fall hiring and networking event at UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs. It is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 in the YVMC Conference Room. Walk-ins are welcome, and some onsite interviews may be conducted during the event. Or interested individuals may register by emailing Melissa Welu, senior recruiter, at melissa.welu@uchealth.org.

The community is invited to a free showing of the film “Undivide Us.” The focus of the film is to learn, listen, and create a healthy and civil dialogue within the community, leading up to the 2024 election in November. We are hosting the event with Rocky Mountain Public Media. It’s Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Allbright Auditorium on the CMC campus.

The Steamboat Sailors were handed their first loss of the season to Summit. Final Score 21-22.
The Hayden Tigers dominated Lake County and won 60-6.

Moffat County High School hosted the Moffat County Invitational Track Meet Saturday at Loudy-Simpson Park.
For the Boys 5000-Meter Run results, the Moffat County boys took first overall, followed by Steamboat Springs. Olathe was third, Eagle Valley fourth, followed by Rangely, Meeker and West Grand in seventh.
Top local finishes for the 80 boys competing were Nick Clark from SoRoCo in 2nd, Haven Carr from Moffat County in 4th, Asher Rowan from Steamboat Springs in 6th, Zachary Womble from Moffat County in 7th, and Gavin Hendricks from Steamboat in 10th.
For the girls, the Steamboat Sailors took first place overall, with Basalt High School second and Moffat County third, followed by Eagle Valley. Individual results had Ayla Oslowski from Steamboat in 3rd and Sydney Wattles from Moffat County in 4th. Other Steamboat finishers were Antigone Loomis in 7th, and Novella Light and Haley Brabec rounding out the top ten. Lupita Jaconetta from Soroco was 8th.
