“So sad, so surprised when they called me at 4 o’clock in the morning. I never thought this would be happening to me, you know.”

That’s owner Maritza Juandedios.

West Routt Fire in Hayden got the call at about 3:30 a.m. Here is Assistant Fire Chief Brad Parrot.

“When we arrived on scene, there was some fire coming from the eaves on the south side of the structure. We were able to make a quick attack on the fire, knock the fire down, and then just move into overhaul on the structure.”

Hayden Police reports that no crime is suspected. There will be an investigation.

Sandy Messing is a loyal customer and she says Creek View Grill will reopen as early as next week, but with a food truck.

“So Maritza is planning on getting things situated this weekend. We are hoping to be possibly open come Monday, maybe early next week, with a possible food truck and we will move forward from there.”

The Creek View Grill is on the west side of Hayden.

A forum for the 2024 Routt County candidates in the November election is tonight at Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs. A Meet and Greet starts at 5:30 p.m. and the forum begins at 6 p.m.

The Public Works Department for the City of Steamboat Springs is reminding contractors and homeowners to complete inspections for grading, drainage, and utility work before Nov. 1. Schedule final site inspections before the snow starts to make it difficult.

Routt County Clerk Jenny Thomas shows the front and back pages of the two-page ballot for the November 2024 election.
Moffat County Election Coordinator Heidi Rogers shows the front of the sample ballot for the November 2024 election.

Ballots are being mailed Friday, Oct. 11, so watch for it in your mailbox. In Moffat County, there are just over 8,700 ballots being mailed. In Routt County, there are about 19,000 eligible registered voters who will be receiving their ballot in the mail.

Remember, if you have moved, or had to get a new post office box, make sure to update your address. All of those 80488 P.O. Boxes are closed, but Steamboat Springs Postmaster Alex Garza said they received about 300 Voter BlueBooks returned as undeliverable. So make sure you update your new address through GoVoteColorado.gov

The annual Smartwool Sample Sale is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11. It’s in the Howelsen Hill parking lot, hosted by Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. “I think that it’s going to be a really good game. They have a really strong passing game. And I think that if we can get our pass defense down, I think that we can hammer them down a little bit. I’m really hoping for a win that game.”

It is also Dad’s Night tonight for Moffat County.
