The fall play at Steamboat Springs High School is The Phantom Tollbooth, based on the children’s book by Norton Juster.
The show centers around a boy named Milo and his adventure through the tollbooth, discovering the value of time and meeting many zany characters along the way. There is also Tock, the watchdog, played by senior Macy Pyles.
“People should come out to the play because this is one of our first plays we’ve done that’s really good for kids as well as adults. It’s got some pretty good humor in it. It reminds me a lot of kind of the Alice in Wonderland story, but kid version. It’s really fun.”
It is a comedy that is family-friendly and appropriate for all ages.
Sixty-two students are involved in the production. The first rehearsal was Sept. 4.
Performances start at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Oct. 24-26, with a kids matinee at 3 p.m. on that Saturday. Tickets are available from the online box office through SteamboatSchools.net
Those directing the show are Michael Martinez, Marje Tracy, Hayley Berg, Paul Scoppa, and Ami Griffith.
The students in the play will all be traveling to Steamboat Springs Middle School to see the SSMS Drama Production of Beauty and the Beast at noon Saturday.
Many pictures of the dress rehearsal are on the Steamboat Radio Facebook page.
