The freshman class at SoRoCo High School in Oak Creek carried on a long tradition at the school Thursday. They climbed up the hill behind the high school, through the Oak Creek Cemetery, to the very large “S” on the side of the hill. It’s made with white rocks. The kids made sure it is lit up with solar lights, to go on each night.
“I’m Noah and we’re in the SoRoCo High School freshman Class of 2028. I’m Ellie. In 1961, the first graduating class made it a tradition to light the “S” for the tradition. I’m Addison and we’re so blessed to be here lighting the “S” and to continue the tradition.”
The Freshman Class Sponsors made the climb with the kids. They are Raylene Olinger and Jill Duplessis. Superintendent Kirk Henwood was also there, taking pictures.
