It is Veterans Day. Concerts and programs are happening across Northwest Colorado.

Veterans will be at Strawberry Park Elementary for an assembly Monday morning, and then Soda Creek Elementary in the afternoon.

A Veterans Day Concert is at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at South Routt Elementary School in Yampa. Veterans are invited for a Continental Breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

A Veterans Day breakfast is Monday morning at Moffat County High School.

The Hayden FFA Chapter is hosting two Veterans Day events in Hayden, Celebrating local veterans and their service. One is at 11 a.m. and another at 6:30 p.m., in the Hayden Schools Gymnatorium. Veterans and guests are asked to enter through the west entry by the football field. Meals will be served to all veterans.

Veterans will participate in a breakfast and program at Sleeping Giant School, with students and veterans. That’s at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The students have worked on a great program.

“The thing I’m going to miss the most is the team here, the team at the airport and all the city employees that I’ve interacted with. The city just has an amazing group of people working for them. And that’s what I’ll miss the most.”

Stacie Fain has been the airport manager for eight years, after serving 27 years in the Coast Guard. Fain’s last day as Airport Manager will be Nov. 24.

Well over 200 girls and family members braved a heavy winter snowstorm Saturday morning in Steamboat Springs to run in the Girls on the Run 5K. These are girls from all over the Western Slope. One of those girls was Aly in 3rd grade at Sandrock Elementary in Craig.

“My favorite thing about Girls on the Run was getting to meet everyone.”

And yes, all those girls ran in a snowy blizzard. Here’s Alexis, a 5th grader from Sunset Elementary in Craig.

“I like the ending because then you finally get to go inside.”

There are a lot of pictures of the fun on our Facebook page, and a couple were on 9News over the weekend.
