Moffat County High School Theatre presents “Murder by the Book” on Thursday and Friday nights with two shows on Saturday. Tickets are $8 at the door.
The play is about several famous authors who are in a secret society to pick the best and worst books of the year.
“I am Cheyenne Grivy and I play the role of Shakespeare. I think you should come to the show because there is huge plot twists and really funny moments. I’m Marie Roberts and I play the role of Emily Dickinson and I think you should come to the show because it’s family friendly and interesting for all audiences. I’m Keylee Bower and I play the role of Louisa May Alcott. I think you should come see our play because it’s really fun to watch and it’s really good, and it’s funny and it’s a bunch of different kinds of genres all mixed in there.”
The understudies for Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, and Louisa May Alcott were on stage for the dress rehearsal night when pictures were taken.
Here is the synopsis from Director Juliann Matheson: The Raven Society has assembled for its annual meeting. This society consists of several authors who choose the best and worst books of the year to be awarded lucrative publishing deals. Because of the prestige of the award, members of the society keep their identity a secret even to each other. To accomplish this, they arrive in character as a famous historical author and remain so for the entire meeting, where they are cut off from the outside world for three days. At this year’s meeting the society has received a death threat from last year’s “worst book” author. He/she promises to kill each member of the society “by their own word.” Almost immediately the members begin to die and a rush to solve the mystery ensues.
