Uphill Pass armbands for Steamboat ski area are available. Uphill access to the resort is before 9 a.m. each day or after 4:30 p.m. daily. Your Uphill Access Armband must be displayed at all time, and you need to stay on designated routes. The cost for Uphill Access for the season is $39. No dogs are allowed on the mountain.

Christmas tree cutting permits are available from local district offices or online at Recreation.gov It is $10 per tree with a $2.50 processing fee for permits purchased online. The local office for the Hahns Peak/Bears Ears Ranger District is at 925 Weiss Drive in Steamboat Springs. Trees can be cut down in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest with a few restrictions. For example, you can’t get a tree from the Fish Creek Falls Recreation Area or Steamboat Ski Area. Fourth graders are eligible for a free Christmas Tree permit through the Every Kid Outdoors program. From Colorado Northwestern Community College, repairs were done to the roof and the gym floor of the Hefley building was replaced, thanks to grants and support from the Rangely Junior College District Board. CNCC has also completed $2.8 million dollars in IT upgrades. The aviation program at CNCC has been ranked by Fly magazine as the best program in Colorado for producing workforce-ready pilots.

Deferred riders and volunteers with guaranteed entries into the SBT GRVL ride next summer can register starting Monday, Nov. 18 through Sunday, Nov. 24, for either the Saturday Ride or the Sunday Gravel Circuit Race. Next summer’s event is now June 28-29, 2025. Then general registration is Dec. 2-7 with a random selection process. All entrants will be notified of their status on Friday, Dec. 13.

Congratulations to the 2024 Wyoming State 1A 6-man Football champions… the Little Snake River Rattlers from Baggs, Wyoming, just north of the Moffat County line. It’s the Rattlers third state championship in four years. Final score over Burlington, 87-50. Snake River senior Bridger Cozzens rushed for 482 yards and scored eight touchdowns in the game.

The Steamboat Stampede 19U Girls Hockey Team are the champions of the Mountain Diva tournament held at Howelsen Ice Arena this weekend. Mia George had the game winner to beat Vail, 2-1, in overtime.

Cregan Ortner of Steamboat Springs and her horse Big Medicine (aka Chase) are the Champions of the USHJA Adult Affiliate .80 Meter Jumper Division at the US Hunter Jumper Association Championship show in Las Vegas this weekend. Not only was she the champion of the division but she also took first place in each of her classes, beating competitors from all around the US. And she did it on her birthday on Saturday.
