The Howelsen Hill Nordic Center is partnering with Nordic Pulse. It is an app that provides Nordic Trail conditions. You can check if a trail is groomed or if it is open or closed for a special event. Grooming teams at Howelsen Hill use the Nordic Pulse GPS tracker so the app is updated right away.

Season passes for the Howelsen Hill Nordic Center are available through SteamboatSprings.net/ski.

The 109th season for Howelsen Hill is scheduled to start Saturday, Nov. 30, and runs through Sunday, March 30, conditions permitting.

Ski Free Sundays are back as well, every Sunday through closing day.

Press Release from the City of Steamboat Springs; Nov. 20, 2024.

Glide Through Nordic Season With Real-Time Conditions Nordic Pulse App Provides Nordic Trail Conditions At Your Fingertips

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-November 20, 2024-Howelsen Hill Nordic Center is bringing real-time Nordic trail conditions right to your fingertips as it partners with Nordic Pulse so skiers can smoothly glide through the winter season.

“Howelsen Hill has a century-long tradition of Nordic skiing that continues to serve as a gathering place for the community,” said Howelsen Hill Ski & Rodeo Manager Brad Setter. “With Nordic Pulse, we’re looking to leverage the latest technology so trail users get the most enjoyment out of their time on the snow.”

Now, you never have to wonder if a trail has been groomed, is open/closed or if a special event is impacting it in some way. Nordic Pulse brings the grooming status for Howelsen Hill Nordic Center right to your fingertips. Trail conditions can be found on the ski area’s website or download the iOS or Android app to your mobile device for updates on the go.

With Nordic Pulse, grooming teams simply enable the in-app GPS tracker while grooming and the app syncs the data every few seconds. As the data syncs, Nordic Pulse accurately processes the GPS data points, marking each trail with the precise date and time that it was last groomed. Once a trail has been marked as groomed, the timestamp will continue to update each time the groomer passes over it again.

“We have 13 kilometers of trails across the complex,” said operations supervisor Micah Ness. “We’ll be doing the full grooms that includes Blackmer trail on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday; followed by partial grooms on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for the Rodeo Loops, the base area, as well as Bluffs Loop or Meadows. This means our crew is grooming something every day.”

Howelsen joins twenty other Nordic areas across Colorado on Nordic Pulse including Catamount Nordic Center and Bruce’s Trail in the Yampa Valley.

Season passes are currently available for purchase online at steamboatsprings.net/ski. Historic Howelsen Hill plans to usher in its 109th winter season beginning Saturday, November 30 and running daily through Sunday, March 30 (conditions permitting).

The popular Ski Free Sunday program will return and is planned to run every Sunday through closing day. Hours, prices and information about the ski area, Nordic Center, and daily grooming report can be found at steamboatsprings.net/ski.
