Trees and homes are being decorated for the holidays, throughout the country, and here in Northwest Colorado. Brian Erhart is with SavATree which recently decorated the large trees along Hwy 40 in Hayden, among others. He says to have a plan.

“Planning what you’re going to do before you get up on a ladder, and having the right equipment with you. Knowing your limits, not going too high on a ladder or up on a roof. We really try to avoid getting on a roof at all costs, really, especially when we get snow and moisture on a roof.”

Erhart says always use a sturdy ladder and make sure it’s on level ground. Wear good shoes with good traction. Don’t install lights when it is snowing or windy and work with a partner. Also check lights and cords, and outlets, and keep those connections off wet ground. When in doubt, call a professional for help.
