Hayden High School and Middle School (pictured) hosted a Career Day Expo on Wednesday to showcase different industries in the Yampa Valley. Eleven people participated to talk to the students about their careers, including law enforcement, construction, nursing, education, mental health, ranching, media and tertainment. Hayden instructor Eric Wellman helped organize Career Day.
“It really is important to give our students an opportunity to see what careers are within the Yampa Valley, for those who want to stay here, but to explore the job opportunities outside of the valley as well.”
Speakers first met with high school students in the classrooms. Then middle school students heard from all speakers at a panel discussion in the auditorium.
Steamboat Radio was represented by News Director Shannon Lukens. Three girls wanted to come up and say hello after the panel discussion.
“I’m Adriana, and my favorite part about today was probably meeting you. I listen to you every day on the radio. And I always look up to you at school. And my name is Charlotte and my favorite part about today was definitely meeting you. It’s really cool to meet you. My name is Poppy and it was really fun. Got me out of class.”
We were happy to be invited to participate and talk about local media in the Yampa Valley.
