That’s a Wrap – Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic Final Day Results and Overall Winners
Last day at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs for the 2024 series – Sara Rask is the overall winner for the women and Raphel Lessard is the winner for the men
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – The Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic alpine ski race wrapped up today with a final day of racing on Howelsen Hill. The weather was clear, the sky was blue, and the course was fast—a fantastic day for all the racers. In the women’s race, Liv Moritz from the U.S. Ski Team had the fastest time for the day, and in the men’s race, Camden Palmquist with the U.S. Ski Team won for the second day in a row to take both slalom wins for the weekend. University of Denver’s Sara Rask was 2nd for the day, and SSWSC’s Logan Grosdidier was 3rd and first U18. In the men’s race, Stanley Buzek from the U.S. Ski Team was 2nd, and Christian Oliveira Soevik from the University of Denver was 3rd. SSWSC’s Jeremy Nolting was 3rd Junior (12th overall). Adrian Beauregard from Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club had the fastest time for the U18 men, finishing 1st U18 (19th overall). SSWSC’s Abby Olson also landed on the U18 podium in 3rd place (21st overall). Owen Wither from SSWSC also found the U18 podium in 3rd place (38th overall)
The overall winners for the 2024 Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic are Sara Rask from the University of Denver for the women and Raphael Lessard from the University of Utah for the men.

Each year, the race honors Murphy Roberts, a former SSWSC athlete who passed away unexpectedly in 2016 at 22. The Roberts family offers a generous scholarship fund in memory of their son. The annual Murphy Roberts Scholarship Award was presented at the awards ceremony following the night races on December 20. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to the athlete who best demonstrates a passion for alpine ski racing while selflessly providing a level of enthusiasm, fun, and team participation. On Friday night, Hig and Cassidy Roberts presented two $1,000 scholarships in honor of their brother Murphy Roberts to Owen Wither from Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and Carson Hume of Ski and Snowboard Club Vail.

Day Three Results – Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic Night Slalom
Howelsen Hill Night Slalom was fun, festive, and fast
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – The Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic moved over to Howelsen Hill today for a third day of exciting ski racing, with the final runs under the lights! Amid a cheering crowd, fans were greeted by Santa and Santa’s trusty elf as they skied down the course to start the night festivities. 57 men and 52 women made it through the Howelsen Hill course in the afternoon for an opportunity to race the iconic night slalom. Mia Hunt from the University of Denver was the night slalom winner for the women, SSWSC alumnae, U.S. Ski Team athlete with the University of Utah was 2nd, and Louison Accambray was 3rd. Camden Palmquist from the U.S. Ski Team won the night slalom for the second year in a row, Filip Wahlqvist from the University of Colorado was 2nd, and Justin Bigatel from the University of Colorado was 3rd.
Over 16 colleges represented in the men’s and women’s fields this week, showing the spirit and love of skiing exemplified by Murphy Roberts. Cassidy Roberts presented two $1,000 scholarships in honor of her brother Murphy Roberts to Owen Wither from Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and Carson Hume of Ski and Snowboard Club Vail. Day Two Results Men’s and Women’s Giant Slalom
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – The Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic wrapped up giant slalom racing at Steamboat Ski Resort on Thursday, December 19. Kjersti Mortiz from the U.S. Ski Team took the win for the women and Raphael Lessard from the University of Utah won for the men.
Sara Rask from the University of Denver took 2nd place for the second day in a row, and U18 skier Viktoria Zaytseva from APEX took 3rd place, landing on the podium for the Overall, Junior, and U18 race divisions. Mortiz (1st place overall) from the U.S. Ski Team was the top Junior for the women, Zaytseva was 2nd (3rd place overall), and SSWSC alumnae Tatum Grosdidier from the U.S. Ski Team and University of Utah was 3rd (5th overall). The top U18 for the women’s race was Zaytseva (3rd overall), Logan Grosdider with Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club was 2nd U18 (8th overall), and Solveig Moritz from Ski and Snowboard Club Vail was 3rd U18 (18th overall).
Johs Braathen Herland from the University of Utah took 2nd in the men’s race, and Justin Bigatel was 3rd. SSWSC’s Jeremy Nolting just narrowly missed the podium, coming in 4th overall, but Nolting easily won the Junior division. Stewart Bruce from Ski and Snowboard Club Vail was 2nd Junior (14th overall), and SSWSC alumni and St. Lawrence University skier Charlie Welch was 3rd Junior (15th overall). Adrian Beauregard with SSWSC was the U18 winner for the second day in a row (29th overall), Owen Wither was 2nd U18 (34th overall), and Rick Shay from Ski and Snowboard Club Vail was 3rd (41st overall).
The three Grosdidier sisters (alumnus and one current SSWSC athlete) put down fast runs to all end up in the top 15—Tatum Grosdidier (5th overall), Logan Grosdidier (8th overall), and Riley Grosdidier (13th overall).

Day One – Men’s and Women’s Giant Slalom
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – The Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic is underway with the first day wrapped up at Steamboat Ski Resort. The weather and course conditions were perfect for the first day of racing the giant slalom at Steamboat Ski Resort; the energy was high, and the course was fast. Louison Accambray from France and skier with the University of Colorado ski team took the overall win for the women, and Norwegian skier Johs Braathen Herland with the University of Utah won the overall for the men. SSWSC alumnae Tatum Grosdidier, who is on the U.S. Ski Team and skiing with the University of Utah, was 3rd overall and 1st in the Junior division (U21 and younger). SSWSC’s Abby Olson was 3rd U18 (15th overall) for the women. SSWSC’s Jeremy Nolting was 2nd in the Junior (U21 and younger) men’s division, and the future of the alpine program is bright; SSWSC swept the U18 division men’s podium with Adrian Beauregard taking 1st (34th overall), his brother Caman 2nd (37 overall), and Owen Wither 3rd (43 overall). SSWSC’s Abby Olson was 3rd U18 (15th overall) for the women.
