While we can’t go everywhere, we’re trying to visit as many neighborhoods as possible so we’ll be starting an hour earlier. SSFR Big Red Sleigh Tour Set to Fly Dec 22, 23 & 24
Santa Claus & SSFR Share Holiday Spirit & Joy Across Yampa Valley
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-December 17, 2024-Santa & Mrs. Claus are making a brief stop in town just before Christmas to visit all the good boys and girls atop Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue’s (SSFR) 525-horsepower Big Red Sleigh (aka Tower-61) and share the holiday spirit and joy of the season.
“The North Pole called the station and asked if we would help Santa & Mrs. Claus get around the valley again this holiday,” said Fire Chief Chuck Cerasoli. “We didn’t hesitate to offer up our big red sleigh so his reindeer could rest for the big day and help some of our firefighters get on the good list.”
Due to his busy schedule leading up to Christmas, Kris Kringle will spend three nights in Steamboat Springs traveling through different neighborhoods atop the bright red tower fire truck. The tour is anticipated to depart the mountain station between 4 to 4:15 p.m. and will travel through the areas listed below.
SANTA’S BIG RED SLEIGH TOUR
- December 22 — Mountain area, Whistler, Casey’s Pond, Hospital/Barn Village, Steamboat Blvd, Fish Creek to Tamarack, Cherry down Hilltop to 40, and Anglers
- December 23 — Dream Island and west thru Indian Trails, West End Village, West Acres, Sunlight, Riverside, Sleepy Bear, Silver Spur, Steamboat II, and Heritage Park
- December 24 — Fairview, Blue Sage Circle, down Fish Creek Falls to Maple, Oak, Crawford, Old Town, Soda Creek School, and downtown and through Brooklyn on River Road
Again, this year, Life360 app will allow people to track Santa’s route each evening aboard the Big Red Sleigh and see where the big man in the red suit and his elves are in real time. A code for each evening will be shared before the Big Red Sleigh departs for its nightly rounds.
“We know it’s important to share the holiday spirit as a community and remind all of us to continue to be kind, compassionate and look out for one another,” said Firefighter/Public Education Coordinator Julie Wernig. “The holidays are not easy for everyone, and we hope this tour brightens the season for many in our community.”
Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue asks everyone to stay out of the road, dress warm and carry a flashlight. After the Big Red Sleigh Tour, kids can track Santa’s flight around the world on Christmas Eve HERE.
