The winner of the button contest for the 112th Winter Carnival is 13-year-old Louisa Crump. She’s a U14 alpine skier with Steamboat Springs Winter Sports club and a student at Steamboat Mountain School.
Everyone will need to get a Winter Carnival button for the event, Feb. 5-9. A button is $15. They’ll be available throughout the community starting Thursday, Jan. 24.
This year’s theme is “Let your Light Shine.”

112th Winter Carnival Button Contest Winner Revealed
SSWSC U14 Alpine Athlete Louisa Crump Wins the 2025 Contest
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club has announced that 13-year-old Louisa Crump, SSWSC U14 alpine ski athlete and Steamboat Mountain School student, is the button contest winner for the 112th Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival. The 112th Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival will take place February 5-9, 2025. In October, young artists, 18 years old and under, were invited to submit button art for this year’s Winter Carnival theme – Let Your Light Shine. Louisa was selected from 65 artwork entries.
A 2025 $15 Winter Carnival button is required for entry/spectating at all events. A 2025 Winter Carnival Button also offers access to free skiing and riding from February 5-9 at Howelsen Hill. Skiing is always FREE at Howelsen Hill on Sundays. Button must be presented to the ticket office to receive a ticket. Some Winter Carnival events required additional tickets and registration.
