Casey’s Pond Senior Living in Steamboat Springs has a new advisory committee to oversee the distribution of any money raised. The committee has four members each from the Northwest Colorado Health and Yampa Valley Community Foundation board and staff, and four members of the community. They are:
- David Park, Northwest Colorado Health Board Treasurer
- Susan Larson, Community Member
- Traci Hiatt, Yampa Valley Community Foundation Director of Philanthropy
- Lisa Brown, Community Member
- Tom Chaney, Community Member
- Becky Lewis, Northwest Colorado Health Board President
- Larry Jenkins, Northwest Colorado Health Past Board President
- Kathleen Wasserman, Community Member
- Stephanie Einfeld, Northwest Colorado Health CEO
- Tim Wohlgenant, Yampa Valley Community Foundation CEO
- Not Pictured: Rob Race, Yampa Valley Community Foundation Board Vice Chair and Casey’s Pond Family Member
They’ll meet regularly for updates on operations and financials. None of the previous board members of Casey’s Pond are on the committee.

Routt County Clerk Jenny Thomas has been elected as Vice President of the Colorado County Clerks Association. She was sworn in at the clerks’ winter conference in Colorado Springs. Jackson County Clerk Hayle Johnson was elected as president of the group.

A Community Health Needs Assessment Survey has been released. It’s done every three years to learn about the most critical health issues facing Moffat and Routt counties. A link is on our website.
The survey is a collaboration between Northwest Colorado Health, UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center, Memorial Regional Health, The Health Partnership, and the Public Health Departments of Routt and Moffat counties.
The survey is available through Feb. 21.

Opening ceremonies for Winter Carnival were last night in Olympian Hall. Eight beautiful Little Princesses were introduced along with the royalty court. Rick and Heather Devos are Grand Marshals. Rick ran Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club from 1999-2013.
“I’ve just enjoyed being a part of Winter Sports Club for so long. I can really get excited for what it has really meant to the community but to us as a family. So we’re having a ball.”
PJ Wharton spoke from Yampa Valley Bank, which is the main sponsor of Winter Carnival.
Today is the snowsculpting day along Lincoln Ave. for the 112th Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival. This afternoon is an Airbag Demonstration, Cross Country Obstacle Course, Terrain Park Jam Session, Family Duals, Ski Jumping Jamboree, and the S’More Family Fun Party. Tomorrow morning is the Soda Pop Slalom. It’s all at Howelsen Hill. The entire Winter Carnival schedule is on our website.

Two music students from Steamboat Springs High School are competing in the All State Orchestra in Fort Collins, Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 6-8. Those being honored are Alexander Dismuke on clarinet, and Asher Komor on flute. It is a highly selective group and a huge accomplishment to be accepted.
The Moffat County Cattlewomen invite you to Coffee with the Cattlewomen Friday morning, Feb. 7. It starts at 7:30 a.m. at Maple Blues Coffee in Craig.

The Steamboat Sailor Nordic Ski Team races off against Summit Friday at the Gold Run Nordic Center in Breckenridge.
