Nancy Gray will be celebrated as this year’s winner of the Hazie Werner Award. All past recipients, and the public, are invited to a reception from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Steamboat Art Museum on Wednesday, Feb. 26, in downtown Steamboat Springs.

Seven outstanding nominees from Craig and Steamboat Springs are being recognized tonight by the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Colorado. One will be chosen as the Youth of the Year and will receive a $10,000 scholarship while each other nominee receives a $5,000 scholarship. It’s at 6 p.m. tonight in the Allbright Auditorium at Colorado Mountain College. Help maximize the awarded scholarship amounts by contributing to the scholarship fund at https://bgcnwc.org/yoy
Look up! The Sandhill Cranes will soon be flying back to the Yampa Valley. The Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition is launching the 2025 1st Crane Sighting Contest this Saturday. If you are first to spot a Greater Sandhill Crane in the Yampa Valley, you could win some great prizes. The areas to watch are West Routt, North Routt, and South Routt County, Steamboat Springs, Craig, and West Moffat County. Take a picture or video and submit it to ColoradoCranes.org

LiftUp of Routt County is now accepting applications for their Hope for the Future Scholarship. This is for high school seniors or adults who have a tie to Routt County and meet the financial guidelines for the scholarship. It’s for those seeking higher education, a trade or certification. Apply through LiftUpRC.org before April 21.
Yampa Valley Bank has received word they are ranked #4 in overall performance among 67 banks in Colorado for the Q4 last year, according to the Bank Performance Report.

Big game tonight at Howelsen Ice Arena in the CHSAA State High School Hockey playoffs. The Steamboat Sailors are the #2 seed in the 4A bracket for the state playoffs. They’re playing #7 ranked Colorado Academy, at home, here in Steamboat Springs. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. at Howelsen Ice Arena. We will have live coverage on KTYV 105.7 Sports on FM on you can watch through the Steamboat Radio YouTube channel, available on our website.
The FIS Para Snowboard World Cup continues at Steamboat Resort this week.

Thirteen Winter Sports Club athletes are competing in the U18 National Alpine Championships in Aspen through this weekend. (Feb. 25-March 3).

The U.S. Ski Jumping World Championships start tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 27) in Trondheim, Norway. Of the ten U.S. athletes competing, three are from Steamboat Springs. They are Annika Belshaw and her brother, Erik Belshaw, and Jason Colby.
