The U.S. Forest Service office in Steamboat Springs has closed. That office is at 925 Weiss Drive. Visitor information, such as maps, access locations, and recreation site status must be done online or on the phone, at 970-870-2299. The Forest Service office in Yampa is still available.
The U.S. Forest Service did announce that hours would be cut back, back in late December due to staffing.
The U.S. Forest Service has also announced they are hiring up to 50 temporary wildland firefighters for the upcoming fire year, in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

The Steamboat Springs High School Drama Troupe presents their spring production of “Our Town.” It’s a Pulitzer Prize winning play that highlights small town life and what it means to be alive. Forty-five drama students are involved in the production. Quinn Skinner is the director.
“I think people should come and see the show because it’s a beautiful piece of the American life and everyday life and why it is beautiful and why it is important.”

Fourth graders with the Sleeping Giant School in Steamboat Springs had a ski-a-thon Tuesday at the Steamboat Ski Touring Center. They were given gear and they raced around a track to raise money to fund micro loans through KIVA.org. Here are two students.
“We are donating money and sending micro loans so we can help people in need. Thanks. And what I like about this program is we’re helping more people than just a few and we can help communities.”

The Community Budget Center in Craig is having a Hidden Treasures Silent Auction. You can bid online now through March 21, which is when there will be a Final Bidding Event from 5-7 p.m. on that Friday night. The Closing Mixer and Final Bidding Event is at the Craig Chamber of Commerce Building at 775 Yampa Ave. All proceeds from the auction benefit the Community Budget Center’s mission to assist local families in need.
