The March Read-a-Thon is happening right now at Soda Creek Elementary School in Steamboat Springs. Students have received pledges and donations for what they read and they plan to donate what they raise to Casey’s Pond Senior Living.
Here are four of the members of the leadership team at Soda Creek, who are the ones who came up with the idea to raise money for Casey’s Pond.
“My name is Clara and I like the Read-a-Thon because we’re donating to Casey’s Pond which is such a lovely retirement home. My name is Addison and I love the Read-a-Thon because then I can escape reality when I’m reading a book. Hi, I’m Ivy. I love the Read-a-Thon because I love reading books that explain the characters and their amazing adventures. I’m Abi and I like the Read-a-Thon because we’re gathering money for Casey’s Pond which is good for old people to go to.”
The goal is to raise $10,000.
Guests from the community came to read with kids in classrooms today. The students dressed up as their favorite book characters. They also decorated their classroom doors and judges will decide which doors are best next week.
And it is Pi Day. The staff room had a delicious selection of pies available, so we wanted to share those pictures as well.
