Steamboat is in prime spring condition right now with warm temperatures expected to continue through the week and snow possible this weekend into early next week. “This is the type of season we built Wild Blue Gondola for,” said Dave Hunter, president and COO. “While conditions at the bottom of the mountain may deteriorate quickly with warm spring temperatures, the top of the mountain continues to ski and ride great. With Wild Blue going straight to the top of the Sunshine area we can keep people on the mountain, skiing and riding great conditions through closing day.”
As we prepare for closing day, Uphill users should be sure to abide by resort policies and respect any working machinery. Uphill access will be closed April 21-25 for mountain crews to be able to close the mountain; and then will be available again post-season. During regular operational hours, resort crews will be working across the entire mountain with heavy machinery and plowing road cuts in preparation for summer and could pose dangers if encountered by uphill users. Machinery may be encountered any time during the day, and all uphill access is at the skier and rider’s own risk. Please remember, mountain resources are not available after April 25 including facilities such as bathrooms, water fountains, etc; and patrol. If uphill user have an emergency while on the mountain, they should call 911.
