The US Forest Service will be conducting prescribed burns Thursday, April 10, along US40 on the Steamboat Springs side of Rabbit Ears Pass. Smoke will be visible along Hwy 40, in Steamboat Springs, and South Routt County.
The principal of Moffat County High School, Ryan Frink, will finish out the school year. Frink has announced he is leaving the district. He has taken a job on the Front Range to be closer to family. The Moffat County School District is hosting a High School Principal Candidate Forum, from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the MCHS auditorium. Everyone is invited.
Colorado State Patrol says there was a 25% decrease in stolen vehicles last year from the year before. At the top of the list of the most stolen vehicle is the Chevy Silverado, followed by Hyundai Elantra and Sonata at numbers two and three. The Ford F-250 and Ford F-150 are ranked #5 and #6 for being most stolen.

In the continuing update of the new cluster post office boxes in Milner, the box to mail letters has been removed, so the residents can get their mail, but they can’t mail any letters. We’ve inquired if they’ll be getting a box to mail their mail and we’ll let you know.

Memorial Regional Health is hosting Community Conversations, from noon to 1 p.m. in the conference rooms at MRH on Thursday, April 10. Olivia Scheele is the speaker. She’ll talk about being a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and Forensic Nurse Examiner.
The Local Marketing District for Moffat County meets at 4 p.m. this afternoon in the commissioner chambers. A report from the Museum of Northwest Colorado is on the agenda.
The Steamboat Springs Police Department is launching Behind the Badge. It starts today. It’s a chance for residents to speak with local officers about local issues. The first talk is today at 5:30 p.m. with the School Resource Officers, in the Community Room at the Combined Law Enforcement Facility building at 2027 Shield Drive.
“Our goal is to strengthen the connection between the department and the community,” said Chief Mark Beckett. “This series is about getting to know the individuals behind the badge and having honest conversations about the issues we face together.”

Local governments and community partners in the Yampa Valley are considering forming a Regional Transportation Authority. This is for Routt and Moffat counties. There is a meeting at 6:30 p.m. tonight in Oak Creek Town Council Chambers.
