There is a community workshop tonight titled, “What’s next for Brown Ranch?” It’s a discussion about future growth and housing for the community, with perspectives from all sides. It’s from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, in Olympian Hall at Howelsen Hill. Organizers ask that you RSVP so they can plan for how much snacks to have.
Today is a Board of Directors meeting for Yampa Valley Housing Authority. Pricing strategy for The Cottonwoods at Mid Valley is on the agenda. The meeting is at noon in the Community Room of the Routt County Human Services building at 6th and Oak.
Routt County Board of County Commissioners is having a special combined meeting with the Town of Oak Creek, in the Oak Creek Hearing Room. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. tonight.
Memorial Regional Health presents their monthly Community Conversations. This week’s subject is “The Dark Side of the Sun: UV Radiation & Skin Cancer, with Dr. Laurie Good. It’s at noon on Thursday, May 8, in the conference rooms at Memorial Regional Health in Craig.

Seniors at Hayden High School presented their year-long Senior Capstone Projects at the high school Tuesday. The projects represent a year of students exploring their interests related to their future academic, professional, or personal goals.

Capstone Projects were presented also by the seniors at Yampa Valley High School Wednesday night.
Friday, May 9, is Moffat County Day of Caring. It is a half-day event that connects volunteers with projects for nonprofits, government, and low-income individuals in the community, hosted by United Way of the Yampa Valley. Bank of the San Juans is sponsoring the event. Edy George is the branch manager in Craig, who says it is important to support United Way of the Yampa Valley.
“It takes a village, you know. We do a service for people that need some help, like with cars, picking up their yard, whatever that might be. It also to bring recognition to the Day of Caring in Moffat County with United Way to bring in more resources for them to continue to help the people in the community that need help financially.”
You will see different groups of volunteers today, throughout the Moffat County community, helping with various projects for people and nonprofits who may need it. Routt County Day of Caring is May 21.
There are two big games tonight for Steamboat Sailors teams, in the CHSAA State Playoffs.

2025 Class 4A Girls Lacrosse State Tournament Bracket
The 2nd round of the playoffs for the SSHS Boys Lacrosse team is at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, on the Community Field at Colorado Mesa University. Steamboat plays the Grand Junction Tigers. Here is the link to purchase tickets in advance.

Haymaker Golf Course opens today for its 28th season. Online reservations are available, as are season passes and punch card pricing. The golf shop is open daily until 5 p.m. and there is a spring clearance sale in the pro shop. The restaurant at Haymaker opens in June.
