The Town Challenge series in Steamboat Springs is expanding to the water, with the Town Challenge River Race Series starting Wednesday evening Here’s Recreation Supervisor Austin Cagaanan.
“And we just decided that it was time for us to get into the river game. This year, we wanted to add a river race series to be able to get all of those fun rafters and everybody else that loves to be on the river all year round. And try to add another event to their repertoire for the year.”
Wednesday, May 14, is the Yampa River Sprint. It’s a time trial starting at the 5th Street Bridge and ending at the D-Hole next to West Lincoln Park. There are four divisions: Whitewater and Inflatable Kayaks, Stand-Up paddleboards, and rafts. There will be racing on the next three Wednesdays.
A shuttle will help get racers up and down the river. Visit TownChallenge.com to register.
