Yampa Valley Electric says Xcel Energy is doing some work on their transmission lines that feed into the substation that provides electricity for Hayden. Xcel Energy is doing work tonight. It includes a planned outage starting at 11:30 p.m. that will affect everything west of Hayden to Elk Springs and north to Baggs, Wyoming. The work should take about two hours. KRAI AM and FM will be affected by the outage as well. If you have any questions, please call (970) 879-1160.

 

 

In Craig, 8th Street is closed at Russell Street to through traffic through Friday, May 30. The valley pan is being replaced.

Here’s the weekly update on the projects on Downhill Drive and Riverside Drive.

Crews will NOT be working starting at 1 p.m. Friday, through Tuesday, May 27, over the Memorial Day weekend. The closure on Downhill Drive is expected to last four months. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane and alternating. Night work in the area begins in July for all work on Hwy 40.

Steamboat Springs City Council meets at 5 p.m. tonight. Agenda

 

The theme of this year’s 4th of July Parade in Steamboat is “Salute to Dog Town USA.” Grand Marshals are Elaine Hicks, Executive Director of the Routt County Humane Society, and Kathy Connell with Steamboat Digs Dogs. It’s time to register your float for the parade, which is at 10 a.m. on the 4th of July. The deadline to register is June 27. The cost is $125 for a community group and non-profit, and $275 for political groups and businesses.

 Keep Bears Wild – Steamboat is having a presentation on co-existing with bears in the Yampa Valley. It’s at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Mountain Tap Brewery. Pizza and popcorn will be provided.

 

 

Registration is open for the 36th Annual Y.E.S. Golf Tournament on Wednesday, June 4, at Rollingstone Golf Course. It’s presented by the Young Professionals Network and Steamboat Springs Chamber. Money raised is distributed in scholarships to high school seniors in Routt County.
