It has been determined that the discharge of a firearm by a Routt County Sheriff’s deputy last October, in an attempt to stop a suspect in a vehicle that was trying to get away, was legally justified. The Critical Incident Response Team in the 14th Judicial District came down with the decision after an investigation of the incident. The release said the suspect was trying to get away by ramming patrol vehicles. The deputy discharged a single round into one of the tires of the subject’s vehicle.

“A lot of them just don’t understand where beef comes from, where milk comes from, our food basically. If nothing else, we kind of hope that they at least will realize that there’s a family, or a person behind whatever food that they’re getting from the grocery store. We want them to realize that production ag involves families.”
Ranch Days for 3rd graders is hosted by Routt County 4-H and the Routt County Cattlewomen.
