The Rocket Pack Free Summer Lunch program for school-aged kids started this week. It’s free during the summer. Pick up a week’s worth of lunches from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, at the Lift Up Food Bank in Steamboat Springs, at 2095 Curve Court. In Oak Creek, pick up a Rocket Pack bag of lunches from 9:30-11 a.m. on Tuesdays.
The 2025 Hayden Mosquito Mitigation Program is scheduled to start today with an aerial application. It is scheduled for around dusk, wind and weather permitting. More information is at HaydenColorado.com

The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners meets this morning. One agenda item is a skid steer contract with Road & Bridge. The Freeman Reservoir Annual Operating Plan is on the agenda. Jon Miller will present on the Craig Skatepark Alliance. Stacy Morgan and Heidi Rogers will report on bid recommendations from the Clerk & Recorder’s office for an Elections Vendor.
Then this afternoon, commissioners meet with Craig City Council for a combined workshop to discuss issues of mutual concern.
Craig City Council then has their regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Craig Police Chief Michael Cochran will swear in two new police officers: Jesus Duarte Burciaga and Eduardo Guevara.
Remember that Craig Water is starting hydro excavating, also called potholing to get samples of unknown water lines. There are 142 areas they will be working on for about the next month. You will have received a door hanger with details at your house if work is being done at your home.
Paving is also being done today through Friday on parts of 8th Street, Russell and Tucker Streets in Craig. There will be no on-street parking in those areas, and there will be signage.
Also in Craig, if you placed Memorial Day decorations at the Craig Cemetery, they need to be removed by this Friday, June 13.
Steamboat Springs City Council meets this evening. The meeting starts at 5 p.m. First there is a work session. Agenda items include an Historic Preservation Plan Update, Steamboat Springs Airport Subsidy, and Policies, and Vacancy Tax Survey Results, Ballot Language and Short-Term Rentals. Agenda
A group of churches in Steamboat Springs is coordinating what they are calling HOPE Sessions. It’s every Tuesday evening this month to discuss talks on mental health. The discussions are to offer a sense of hope and community support to those who have experienced personal struggles with hopelessness. The sessions are at 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday, including tonight, in Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library. All are invited.
The Moffat County School District Bookmobile is back in service for the summer. The Bookmobile is at Moffat County High School from 9:45 a.m.-11:15 a.m. every Tuesday until July 22, except for 4th of July week. Pick up a book or donate a book.
A silent auction for the Nick Would Foundation goes live today, and runs through June 22. The foundation supports the spirit and legacy of the late Nick Simon of Steamboat Springs. A link to the auction is on our website.
