From the District Attorney’s office for the 14th Judicial District. Julius Dickert, 39, was sentenced Thursday to four years in the Colorado Department of Corrections after a sentencing hearing in Routt County District Court. The sentence was imposed after Dickert entered a guilty plea to Distribution of a Controlled Substance-Fentanyl, a class 2 drug felony, for acts that caused the death of Jacob Berman on June 4, 2024, in Steamboat Springs, CO. The investigation was led by Detectives Sam Silva and Christian Barnett of the Steamboat Springs Police Department and the prosecution of the case was handled by Chief Deputy District Attorney Joseph Bucci.
The 15th Annual Moffat County Balloon Festival is underway, at Loudy-Simpson Park in Craig. Launching is each morning through Sunday, weather permitting. Saturday has activities all day at the park with the MRH 5K Fun Run, Colorado Cruisers Car Show, Cardboard Boat Regatta, free Bingo, and live music all afternoon into the evening, followed by the Balloon Glow.
This year’s festival is dedicated to Tony St. John, who passed away last year and was a driving force behind the annual Moffat County Balloon Festival.

A group of Colorado Northwestern Community College students are home after a study abroad trip to Egypt. These are students from Craig and Rangely.

A screening of the movie, Holding Liat, is at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Wildhorse Cinemas.
