Steps to Help Save a Life
SEE SOMETHING : SAY SOMETHING : STAY WITH
You’re not alone and they shouldn’t be either
See Warning
Trust your gut. If someone is acting differently such as withdrawn, hopeless, giving away possessions, or talking about death always should be taken seriously.
Say Something
Ask directly:
“Are you thinking about suicide?”
This will not “put the idea in their head.” It opens the door for honesty and help.
Be calm. Be compassionate. Don’t judge.
Stay With
Stay with the person or get someone to stay until help arrives.
Call or text 988 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Never leave someone alone who is at risk.
