Memorial Regional Health in Craig has earned a re-accreditation from DNV, which is an international foundation and expert in assurance and risk management services, and that includes hospital accreditation. It’s from their annual survey about quality and safety in healthcare at MRH. One of the surveyors said MRH is one of the most impressive Critical Access Hospitals she has ever visited.

Press Release from Memorial Regional Health; July 29, 2025.

Memorial Regional Health Earns Reaccreditation Following DNV Survey

CRAIG, COLO. — Memorial Regional Health (MRH) is proud to announce that it has earned reaccreditation from DNV following its unannounced annual survey—an essential benchmark of quality and safety in healthcare. The successful survey reinforces MRH’s continued commitment to excellence in patient care and operational performance.

“This was one of the most impressive Critical Access Hospitals I’ve visited,” said Raquel, one of the DNV surveyors, who also highlighted MRH’s innovation and commitment to quality throughout the organization. Fellow surveyor Jon-Marc echoed those sentiments, stating that MRH functions at a level well above most Critical Access Hospitals and specifically praised the facility’s overall cleanliness.

The DNV team highlighted multiple areas of excellence during their multi-day review:

  • Sterile Processing Excellence: Chuckie Moore was recognized for her outstanding work implementing strong processes in sterile processing.
  • Leading Documentation Practices: The team praised MRH’s 2024 ISO project on documented information and the division of the Safety Committee into focused groups—a model expected to be noted in the formal ISO report.
  • Innovative Patient Education: The use of QR codes for patient education, especially in the pediatric treatment room and for oral antibiotics, was called “unique and commendable.”
  • Emergency Department Strength: ER nursing staff were applauded for perfect conscious sedation charting. DNV also noted that all ED nurses have achieved the Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification, and 95% are certified in both Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Cleanliness and Environment: Cleanliness across the facility received repeated praise—shoutout to our Environmental Services team for their exceptional work!
  • Staff Development: Med/Surg’s orientation program, led by manager Sue Heiner, was recognized for its positive impact on staff preparedness and organizational effectiveness.
  • Quality Program Commitment: MRH was commended for having a dedicated Internal Quality Auditor, Dollie Rose, reinforcing its culture of continuous improvement.

While every survey identifies minor improvement opportunities—and this one was no exception—none require immediate resurvey. Corrective Action Plans will be submitted as part of the standard process.

“Reaccreditation is always a meaningful milestone,” said _Jennifer Riley, CEO. “But when national surveyors go out of their way to compliment the strength of your quality program, the professionalism of your team, and the pride the entire team takes in our facility, that’s something to truly celebrate.”

DNV’s rigorous accreditation process is grounded in international quality standards and risk-based methodologies, pushing healthcare organizations to drive improvement beyond compliance. Learn more at DNV Healthcare.
