Steamboat Springs City Council has a special meeting at 11 a.m. today. It’s to review the amended pledge agreement from Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation that would commit $1 million annually for three years to the Yampa Valley Regional Transportation Authority. A decision is needed before tomorrow so final considerations can be made with the intergovernmental agreement. All six jurisdictions must approve the agreement for the RTA to be on the ballot in the fall. This has to be done before Sept. 5. The six jurisdictions are Routt County, Craig, Hayden, Yampa, Oak Creek, and Steamboat Springs. Meeting Agenda

Nomination packets are due back in by the end of the day today for those considering running for city council in Craig or Steamboat Springs. This is also for those considering running for mayor in Craig. The election is Nov. 4. When all petitions are turned in and confirmed, we’ll let you know who is running.

The Routt County Board of County Commissioners meets for a Work Session today. Budget presentations are from the district attorney’s office, information technologies, purchasing, and the assessor’s office. Agenda

 

Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education has a meeting at 4:30 p.m. today at Steamboat Springs Middle School. Updates include a report on the recent Active Shooter and Reunification Training Event at SSHS. The meeting is also livestreamed. AgendaLivestream Link Information

 

 

Dads, grandpas, and all father figures are invited to a Dads Drop-In at The Commons to just hang out and connect with other dads. No classes. No agenda. No pressure. Sailor Sports! The Steamboat Sailors football team beat Coal Ridge in their season opener Friday night, 39-16.

The Sailors Girls Flag Football team had their first game ever, with a double header Saturday and a double win for the girls. The first game was a close one, but the Sailors won it 13-6, with the first score off of an interception from Claire Shea. The Sailors then crushed Wheat Ridge, 57-0.

 

The Moffat County Bulldogs lost to Kennedy Friday night.

 

Mary McLarnon has been chosen to represent the United States at the World Championships in Switzerland next week. McLarnon is competing in the Junior Women Category in Downhill Mountain Biking. McLarnon is 17 and a senior at Steamboat Springs High School.

Over 300 runners from 24 states took to the trails of Steamboat Mountain Resort for the Continental Divide Trail Races Saturday, running five miles, 16-miles, and a 50K. It’s part of the Steamboat Springs Running Series.
