The Steamboat Sailors Girls Flag Football team has a home game Wednesday against Evergreen. They’re coming off two big wins over the weekend, including a 57-0 shut out over Wheat Ridge.
Here’s Head Coach Connor Payne.
“We’re super excited after our first two games because we came off two big wins for our first ever game so I’m really hopeful that we can put in a great showing against our next team as well.”
And that team is Evergreen. The game Wednesday starts at 5:30 p.m. at Gardner Field, at Steamboat Springs High School.
Flag Football is a new sport for Steamboat Springs High School, which is the only school on the Western Slope offering the sport. The Sailors are competing in the 4A Jeffco League division. About 60 girls went out for the team this year, and there are 16 seniors.
