Bear River Skate Park Closed for Maintenance
Park Out of Commission For A Week Starting September 1
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-August 27, 2025-The Bear River Skate Park will ollie into maintenance and repairs during the week of September 1, through Friday, September 5 and be closed during the duration of the work. The skate park is anticipated to reopen on Saturday, September 6.
“Just as you would take care of your board, checking the axle, wheels and bearings, we’re taking care of some items to keep the skate park in top shape and protect this great amenity,” said Parks Supervisor Johannes Thorsen. “We need your help in staying out of the park during this time, so we get the work completed quickly and minimize the closure.”
The city contracted with Team Pain Enterprises, a custom skate park design/build company which has built numerous parks in Colorado, to conduct the repairs and maintenance. Team Pain will be on site at the facility for the week and their crew will conduct the required work over the five days.
The repairs will consist of removal of all pool coping and installing new coping, grout and epoxy joints; replacing broken or bond failed tiles, applying self-leveling sealant to all saw cuts; crack chase on flat concert; concrete patching behind all steel coping; grinding down joints showing separation and repainting all steel; and pressure washing and applying sealant to the entire concrete park area.
The skate park will remain closed the entire week and the city asks all users to respect the closure. Allowing adequate time for all materials to bond, dry and cure ensures the repairs last to their full extend and provides a longer time before additional work is required.
