Those running for Craig City Council have been announced by Craig City Clerk Katie Carmody. Those receiving a Certificate of Sufficiency are Mayor Chris Nichols who is running for mayor unopposed.  Three spots are open for Craig City Council and five people are running. In alphabetical order, they are:

  • Shawnna Elmore
  • Michelle Gottschall
  • Joe Herod
  • Denise Rae Kleinschnitz
  • Jnl Linsacum

The list of those running for Steamboat Springs City Council was announced last week.

 

It is Labor Day so as a reminder city, county, and federal offices are closed today.

 

Oak Creek is the place to be as the South Routt community celebrates Labor Day each year in a big way. This morning is a Pancake Breakfast at Main Street Park and the No Fun Run. Then at 11 a.m. is the Oak Creek Labor Day Parade followed by games, food, and fun at Decker Park.

  • Pancake Breakfast from 8-10 a.m. at Main Street Park.
  • No Fun Run at 10 a.m. at Town Hall
  • Parade at 11 a.m.
  • Games, food and fun at Decker Park after the parade
  • Bingo at the Fire Station from 1-5 p.m.
  • Live Music at Oak Creek Tavern

 

Bear River Skate Park is closed this week. Repairs and maintenance are being done by a skate park company called Team Pain Enterprises. Sealant and grout will be applied and that has to bond and cure so please don’t use the skate park, which is scheduled to reopen next Saturday, Sept. 6. The skate park is at 1834 Lagoon Court in Steamboat Springs.

The fall grant cycle for Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty starts today. This is for any non-profit 501c3 in northwest Colorado. The grants support local groups or programs that make an impact in our community. Apply before Oct. 1. The Steamboat Sailors Football team had a big win Friday night over the Moffat County Bulldogs, 55-0. Hayden and SoRoCo both lost their games Friday.

 

 

Winter Registration for Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club is open. Scholarships are available. Information is at SSWSC.org

 

Volunteers are needed for the upcoming Colorado High School Cycling League, Sept. 3-5 at Howelsen Hill. That link to volunteer is on our website. Link to volunteer

 

Run Rabbit Run is Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13. Ultramarathon runners will be running all over Steamboat Springs, Howelsen Hill, and the ski area, running 50 miles or 100 miles. Athletes are here from 44 states and 11 countries, competing for over $100,000 in prize money. Volunteers are always needed. Sign up through RunRabbitRunSteamboat.com/volunteer
