Ultramarathon runners will be running all over Steamboat Springs, Howelsen Hill, and the ski area, running 50 miles or 100 miles. Athletes are here from 44 states and 11 countries, competing for over $100,000 in prize money.

It was the first large scale ditch in Routt County to be used specifically for mining and to bring water to Hahns Peak. It estimated that as many as 200 men worked on it, using picks, shovels, and dynamite.
