A 28-year-old man who recently moved to Steamboat Springs from Durango died in a crash on River Road Sunday. Colorado State Patrol says Nathan Stephen Whatcott’s car went airborne off the left side of the road, around Mile Marker 116, went down an embankment and rolled multiple times, landing on its roof. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Stay alert and be bear aware. The bears are still out there looking for food before hibernating for the winter. The door of the compost center at LiftUP of Routt County was heavily damaged overnight by a hungry bear.
Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. has announced two promotions. Dina Castor is SnowSports Director of People and Products. Jim Hillmuth is SnowSports Director of Operations. Both have served in management roles at the resort since 2017. More on the Story

Regional training to help schools prepare students for success after high school is being offered at CMC in Steamboat Springs today, with the Colorado Department of Education. About 65 educators are attending from districts and schools across Colorado.

The kids at Meeker Elementary School are competing this evening in an Elk Bugling and Camouflage Contest. It starts at 6 p.m. tonight. It’s presented by the Meeker Police Department.
The Steamboat High School Mountain Bike Team captured the D1 State Championship Title at the Colorado High School Cycling League State Championships over the weekend. The competition was at the CMC campus in Glenwood Springs. Twenty-nine cyclists from Steamboat Springs competed out of a total of 906 riders, bringing home the first D1 title in the program’s history. The Steamboat team also won the Team Spirit Award with a disco theme, complete with a disco ball, bubble machine, and dance floor.

It’s Senior Night for the Steamboat Sailors Girls Volleyball Team. The seniors will be honored around 6:30 p.m. before the home match with the Battle Mountain Huskies. There are six graduating seniors: Macee Wettlaufer, Ava Hicks, Makayla Slamal, Cam Romero, Ava Drennen, and Janie Gonzales. This is also the last home game for Head Coach Wendy Hall, who is retiring after 39 years of coaching with the Steamboat Sailors Girls Volleyball team. (Other coaches are Harper McCannon, Ruben Dones, and Anna Allsberry.)
The Steamboat Sailors Boys Soccer team is away this evening, with a game against Glenwood Springs.
The Moffat County Girls Volleyball team has a home match tonight against Grand Junction.
