Students and staff at Sleeping Giant School were temporarily evacuated Tuesday, due to an unusual odor and some smoke detected in the building. It was coming from the HVAC unit. Steamboat Springs Fire was called to investigate with the maintenance team to determine the source. All students and staff were safely allowed back into the school.
Text messages and email notifications are going out to families of nearly 59,000 Colorado children, ages four to six years, from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, or CDPHE. It’s a reminder that their children may be overdue for a measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. There will be details on why it is important and how to get the MMR vaccine.

The Tread of Pioneers Museum unveils a new exhibit on Wednesday, Oct. 22. “This is Native Art” features the artwork of 26 contemporary Native American artists.
Artist, activist, and author Danielle SeeWalker is the curator of the exhibit which originally opened at the Colorado State Capitol last winter before going to the Golden History Museum. “We wanted to show that Native art is not frozen in time—it is modern, diverse, and deeply connected to lived experiences today,” said curator SeeWalker.

Six seniors were honored and recognized Tuesday night, on the Steamboat Sailors Girls Volleyball Team. They are: Macee Wettlaufer, Ava Hicks, Makayla Slamal, Cam Romero, Ava Drennen, and Janie Gonzales. It was also the last home game for Steamboat Sailor Girls Volleyball Head Coach Wendy Hall, who is retiring after 39 years of coaching with the team.
Then there was a technical glitch for the National Anthem so everyone in the gym immediately starting singing the National Anthem acapella, very loudly and very proudly.
