Moffat County School District has announced a partnership with Colorado Mountain College, that will offer concurrent enrollment opportunities in advanced training in nursing, educational studies, and culinary arts. Students can receive accreditation for certificates and official documentation of course completion. The courses and programs are also available to Steamboat Springs High School students, not only at the school but on the CMC campus.

The Veterans Center at 924 Lincoln Ave. is collecting dry foods that they will take to the LiftUp Food Bank, to help those losing their SNAP benefits starting Nov. 1. Any food can be dropped off at 924 Lincoln Ave., and the veterans will get it to LiftUp.

Suicide Prevention Training is from 7-8 p.m. at South Routt Middle School Gym in Oak Creek. This is being offered by REPS – Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide and all are welcome to attend.

Third graders at Steamboat Mountain School have been busy working on finding homes for pets at the Routt County Humane Society. They’ve written up radio ads about these prospective pets that need a home. Here’s a sampling from just a few of the kids.
The goal is to raise awareness for the local humane society, and inspire those in the community to visit the animals, volunteer, donate, or adopt a new pet.

Also tonight, Witches Night Out at Alpenglow in Hayden and Witches Night Out at Aurum in Steamboat Springs. They’re free. The Aurum event has a Pink Witch Cocktail in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Steamboat Sailors Boys Soccer team won their first round of the CHSAA 3A State playoffs last night, 4-1, over Berthoud. Nathan Rind had three of those four goals.

Colorado Northwestern Community College, with campuses in Rangely and Craig, is sending their women’s soccer team to postseason play for the second year in a row. The Spartans face Salt Lake Community College today, as the #4 seed in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.

Two Spartan Cross Country runners will compete in the NCJAA Cross-Country National Championships in Fort Dodge, Iowa, next week. They are freshman Cade Webster and sophomore Issiah Simms. This is the first year for the program at CNCC.
