Here are the unofficial results from Election Day, as of late Tuesday night.
ROUTT COUNTY
Steamboat Springs City Council…
- District 1 — Gail Garey over Kelly Phillips.
- District 2 – Steve Muntean ran unopposed
- District 3 – John Agosta with a slight lead over David Box.
- At Large – David Barnes had the most votes.
The two elected to Steamboat Springs Board of Education are: Kim Lemmer and Jane Toothaker.
Ericka Lucas had the lead in the Hayden School District.
MOFFAT COUNTY
Craig Mayor Chris Nichols is re-elected, as he was running unopposed.
The three with the most votes for Craig City Council as of Tuesday night are: Joe Herod, Michelle Gottschall, and Jnl Linsacum.
On the Moffat County School District Board of Education, there were no contested seats. Incumbent board members Heather Cannon and Chris Thome return to the board. Jennifer Mattern joins the board in November.
The formation of a Yampa Valley Regional Transportation Authority passed in all communities.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Kremmling Police are investigating the death of 25-year-old Joshoa Horsley of Kremmling, whose body was discovered Monday in the 300 block of S. 6th Street in Kremmling. Authorities believe it is an isolated incident and there are no threats to public safety. No arrests have been made and there will be an autopsy.

The town of Oak Creek has hired a new police chief. Jeffrey Mason of Barnesville, Georgia, starts Dec. 1. He’ll be moving here after Thanksgiving. His wife will be moving to Colorado after their son graduates from high school.

The Town of Oak Creek is pleased and excited to announce that the Police Chief hiring committee for the Town has extended an offer of employment to Mr. Jeffrey Mason. Mr. Mason has accepted the position subject to successful completion of the background check process and ratification of his executed offer letter by the Town Board of Trustees on November 6th, 2025. He will be starting as the Police Chief for the Town of Oak Creek on December 1st, 2025. Mr. Mason comes to Oak Creek with eleven (11) years of community policing experience as a Police Chief and 15 years of experience as a Police Captain, both positions in the State of Georgia. He also has experience teaching courses in criminal justice and public safety as well as being an FBI National Academy Graduate with over 3,400 hours of POST training.
Mr. Mason is looking forward to, and will be instrumental in, helping the Town rebuild the Oak Creek Police Department and will initiate the search for qualified officers to staff the department upon his arrival. He will also focus on reestablishing a police presence in the community, which has gone almost two years without a police force.
He and his wife April are looking forward to relocating to Oak Creek and living, working and recreating in the Colorado Rockies.

Alternatives to those receiving SNAP benefits, or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, have been arranged in Routt and Moffat counties. SNAP cards are available at the Routt County Department of Human Services starting today. Gift cards for Moffat County residents are expected to be available starting Thursday or Friday. Call Moffat County Human Services first to confirm they are in.

Routt County Board of County Commissioners recognized local veterans during their meeting Tuesday, for Operation Green Light, Nov. 4-11. It’s where communities light up buildings and homes in green, in support for veterans, and to raise awareness of their challenges during the transition to civilian life. Look for green lights on the courthouse this week.

And it is Cribbage night at The Veterans Center tonight, from 6-8 p.m. All are invited.

Commissioners also approved the nomination for the Hayden Congregational Church to be added to the Routt County Historic Register of Historic Places. The church is on Jefferson Ave. in Hayden and was built in 1902. Agenda

Coats from the Coat Drive are now available at LiftUp of Routt County. This is for Routt County residents. Get a coat voucher from the LiftUp Food Bank or a case workers. The coats are available through Nov. 30.

Today is Rider Registration Confirmation where all registrants for the SBT GRVL ride next summer will be notified of their selection status.

“The Dangerous Truth about Today’s Marijuana,” is the subject of a presentation at Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5. Grace Davis is the speaker. She is a certified trainer with Johnny’s Ambassadors which is a nonprofit that educates teens, parents, and communities about the risks of youth marijuana use. The presentation is free, and for those 18 and older. Spanish interpretation will be available.
