By Shannon Lukens.
Be aware of impacts to air travel out of Yampa Valley Regional Airport. It’s because of the mandate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in response to the ongoing federal government shutdown, which says flight operations need to be reduced by 10 percent.
A press release was issued from Routt County this afternoon.
United Airlines will comply with the FAA requirements. United will provide notice if a flight is canceled and travelers are eligible for refunds.
Southwest Airlines is also adjusting schedules and expects most flights to operate as planned. Any changes are at no cost, through next Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Donations to support local federal workers are being accepted at the YVRA terminal. This includes perishable and non-perishable items and gift cards (no cash donations or alcoholic beverages.)

Yampa Valley Regional Airport Issues Travel Advisory
Following FAA Mandate Amid Federal Government Shutdown
Routt County, CO, November 7, 2025 – Yampa Valley Regional Airport (YVRA) is advising travelers of potential impacts to air travel following a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mandate issued in response to the ongoing federal government shutdown. The FAA directive requires a 10% reduction in flight operations at 40 high volume airports to maintain safety while FAA staffing levels are affected. Although YVRA is not among the airports directly mandated to reduce flights, regional airports
may experience indirect impacts such as delays, rerouted aircraft, or schedule changes as airlines adjust nationwide.
United Airlines
United Airlines is adjusting its schedule to comply with FAA requirements. If a flight is canceled, United will provide as much notice as possible. The United app is the best
source for real-time updates, rebooking options, and notifications. Travelers who choose not to fly during this period are eligible for refunds, including non-refundable and
Basic Economy fares.
