Passports are not being processed at the Steamboat Springs Post Office. They haven’t been processed for about a month, due to staffing issues. But local Postmaster Alex Garza says it is temporary.

“We are getting back to full staff shortly, so we will resume passport acceptance within a month, so I would say mid-December. We have to get the new people trained so they are able to handle the back and then our passport clerk can be in the front.”

Three new postal employees have just been hired and are being trained.

If you need a new passport, for the first time, you will have to travel to the post office in Vail or in Glenwood Springs. Garza also says a clerk is still needed for the post office in Clark. Current passports can also be renewed online. We have more details on our website.
