Light Up the Night returns to Steamboat Springs this holiday season. It is at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at its new location of Civic Plaza in Steamboat Springs. That’s on 10th Street between Lincoln and Oak.
Main Street Steamboat Springs is again coordinating the event, which has moved from the historic Routt County Courthouse to the new Civic Plaza.
Here’s Lisa Popovich with Main Street Steamboat.
“We’ll have cookies and cocoa. And our famous ping pong ball drop with specials from all over town that you can collect and redeem. We’ll also of course, have Santa, the star of the show and he’ll help us count backwards from ten, so practice, so we can light the lights.”

The countdown is to the lighting of the holiday lights that will be at Civic Plaza. The Steamboat Springs Fire Department is right there, and they will again be doing the ping pong ball drop with gift certificates to local businesses.

And Santa Claus will be there.
The event is also sponsored by Yampa Valley Electric Association and Yampa Valley Bank.
Santa’s House is set up at Civic Plaza and will stay there through the holidays. Santa’s hours are:
- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6
- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13
- 10 a.m. to Noon Saturday, Dec. 20 – This is also the day for the Gift of Photography, courtesy local photographer Danielle Zimmerer. She’ll be taking free family photos.
