Holt Lemaster was sentenced in Routt County District Court Friday to six years in the Youth Offender System in Pueblo. A request for credit for time served was denied by Judge Billy-George Hertzke. Lemaster was also sentenced to a 16-year suspended sentence in the Colorado Department of Corrections. That sentence would be imposed if Lemaster does something unacceptable during his six years at the Youth Offender System in Pueblo.
Lemaster was charged in the stabbing of 30-year-old preschool teacher Kylie Leggett in April 2024 when Lemaster was 16. Leggett was house-sitting for a family that was out of town on Spring Break.

Today, I get to finally receive closure. It’s been almost two years of me fighting for my life, figuring out how I’m gonna survive, and figuring out how to have a normal life again. Today is the day that I feel like the weight gets to be lifted off my shoulder, and that I will receive closure when I get to close one chapter of this terrible journey. I am very lucky for the police department, the district attorneys, and all the medical staff that have worked on me.
Leggett spent a month in the hospital from her injuries from the stabbing, which still affect her. Her full Victim’s Statement, and a statement from Holt Lemaster are all on our website.

From Norway… Alexa Brabec of Steamboat Springs made the podium in the first Women’s Nordic Combined World Cup of the season, in Trondheim, Norway. Brabec finished third.
Brabec told Nordic Combined USA, “I have been working so hard this summer and without the Olympics on the plate for us, podiuming in a World Cup was my big goal and it feels so insane to have achieved it and at the first World Cup of the season too.”
